Training for Members of the NGO "Slovak Scouting" as part of the AGIT Project

On September 23, 2023, as part of the Nitra Scout Days 2023, an educational activity titled "The Impact of Human Activities on Planet Earth" took place. This activity was organized by members of the Association of Agrarian and Environmental Lawyers as part of the AGIT project: Activation of the Young Generation in Times of Climate Policy Resistance in Central Europe, no. 101081252, program CERV-2022-OCČANIA-CIV.

The training was attended by 87 members of Slovak Scouting. During the one-day event, participants were provided with comprehensive information on this issue, particularly in areas related to ecological footprints, waste management, the impact of industries on the environment, and the European Union's role as a global leader in the fight against climate change.

The primary goals of the training were to introduce young people to legal tools that enable them to effectively pressure local and national governments to take more decisive measures to improve the climate, to raise awareness that climate change litigation at the national level is ineffective if courts do not operate independently from the executive power, and to promote the participation and contribution of citizens and representative associations in democratic and civic life.

In the first part of the training, participants were provided with basic information about the aforementioned topics. These theoretical presentations were then supplemented with concrete examples from practice, practical tasks, and educational games. Members of Slovak Scouting actively discussed and sought answers to many questions related to current climate issues.

A positive outcome of this activity is the increased interest of Slovak Scouting members in future training sessions on similar topics, aimed at deepening the knowledge they have acquired.
